Planning a wedding is such an exciting season — filled with dress shopping, Pinterest boards, and cake tastings. But in the middle of all the details, it’s easy to feel a little overwhelmed or even lose sight of the One who brought you together in the first place.

As a wedding photographer who loves Jesus and loves love, I’ve had the honor of capturing so many beautiful faith-filled weddings. And I’ve seen firsthand how powerful it is when couples intentionally invite Christ into their day.

If your heart is to keep Jesus at the center of your wedding, here are a few practical ways and gentle encouragements to help you do just that.

✨ 1. Begin Your Day in Prayer

Start your wedding morning with quiet time — just you and the Lord. Whether it’s journaling, reading a favorite Psalm, or just sitting in stillness, it sets the tone for the whole day.

You can also ask your bridal party to gather and pray over you before the ceremony. It’s such a sweet, grounding moment.

💌 2. Write Christ-Centered Vows

Whether you’re writing your own or using traditional vows, make space for promises that reflect your faith — things like choosing grace, putting Christ first, and loving as He first loved us (1 John 4:19).

🕊 3. Choose Worshipful Music

Instrumentals of worship songs during your ceremony or a special song at your reception can shift the whole atmosphere. I’ve seen couples walk down the aisle to “The Blessing” or have their first dance to a softly played hymn, and it’s so moving.

📖 4. Include Scripture in Your Ceremony

There’s something powerful about reading God’s Word out loud at a wedding. Some favorites I’ve seen:

  • Ecclesiastes 4:12 – “A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”

  • 1 Corinthians 13 – The classic “love chapter”

  • Colossians 3:14 – “And over all these virtues put on love…”

Ask your officiant or a loved one to read it, or even display it in your ceremony decor.

🕯 5. Have a Moment of Unity

A unity candle, a cross ceremony, washing each other’s feet — these are all beautiful ways to symbolize becoming one in Christ. It’s not about tradition for tradition’s sake — it’s about pausing to remember why you’re here.

👣 6. Let Your Walk Be a Witness

Your wedding is more than just a celebration — it’s a testimony. The way you speak with love, serve each other, and honor your families points others back to Jesus. Even the joy in your photos can reflect the goodness of God!

❤️ A Gentle Encouragement:

It’s okay if things don’t go perfectly. If the music skips or the schedule gets off or the rain rolls in — you haven’t “failed.” Grace covers it all. What matters most is the covenant you’re making and the God who holds it all together.

He doesn’t need perfection — He just wants to be invited in. 🙏

💬 Final Thoughts

Your wedding day will be beautiful — not just because of the flowers or the dress, but because it’s a picture of something eternal. A love that serves. A love that endures. A love that was made by God and for His glory.
